Maruti and Suzuki have always come out with wonderful cars and the recent addition to this long list of cars is the newly launched 5 seater and 7 seater cars. Maruti Suzuki have named it Maruti Eeco and it truly represents the company’s mission to manufacture affordable cars for the Indian market. When not many companies were ready to enter this category, Maruti Suzuki ventured to make affordable Multipurpose vehicles thus creating a new wave in the automobile market. All this while, SUV’s and MUV’s were considered as only catering to the rich class. The New Delhi Expo 2010 was where the public saw a first glimpse of this car. An electric version of the same model, the Maruti Eeco Charge was also introduced. The electric car had the capacity to cover 100km/hr in a single charge.
The basic features of the car include 1199cc petrol engine which can deliver a maximum of 73bhp at around 6000rpm rotation with a torque of maximum 101Nm at 3000rpm. The 5 speed manual shifting gearbox makes the changing of gears a very smooth and noiseless affair. This is possible due to the addition of the Diagonal Shift Assistance Technology into the gear box. The mileage of 15.1km/hr is the main highlight of this car and this will be useful when the Emission norms are put into effect from April 2011.
A look at the Interiors will definitely make any passionate driver happy. The car has clear head and tail lights. The dashboard has an array of meters displayed without making it look cluttered. Though the interiors may look very similar to the interiors of the Maruti Versa, this definitely is more superior. The sliding doors remind you of the Maruti Omni while the headrest at both the driver’s and companion seat bring in the ultimate comfort. This car truly satisfies both families as well as cargo transporters.
There is a color to suit your every mood. For the stylish yet calm person, there are Metallic Glistering Gray and Metallic silky silver to choose from. The show-offs can take a pick from Metallic Blue Blaze, to Metallic Midnight Black to Bright Red. The classy superior white is also available for people who like their cars that way.
You cannot expect anything but decent pricing from Maruti Suzuki. The 7 seater nonA/C version come for Rs. 2,75,000 (ex showroom), and the 5 seater version for Rs. 2,59,000. The A/c version of the 5 seater is only for Rs. 2,89,000. This is as close you can get to a luxury SUV.
