Using Common Household Ingredients to Get Rid of Acne

If you have skin that is anything at all like mine, then you know exactly what it is like to have acne that just will not go away. I have tried all of the expensive and dermatologist approved acne treatments and cleansers that are out on the market currently. And none of them have worked for me. I am also plagued by sensitive skin, so all of the acne treatments that I have tried have been too harsh for my skin. I will use a product, and then immediately afterwards my skin starts to get dry and itchy, and you can see the beginnings of little white patches of dead skin starting to form. Desperate, I turned towards home remedies for acne.

I went online and did a little research. I found out that there were numerous household items that you could use to treat your acne, without drying out your skin. Here are some of the common home ingredients to get rid of acne that I found. One of the things that I learned was that lemon juice does wonders for the treatment of acne. You just dip a cotton ball into a bowl of freshly squeezed lemon juice and place that on your problem area, and viola! You can say good bye to your acne. Now, you must realize that these home remedies for acne are not overnight solutions. They will not take effect immediately and you will not wake up in the morning with perfect, clear skin. It will take a little longer for these home remedies to work than if you had actually gone out and bought an acne facial cleanser from the store. I have also heard that aloe is supposed to be a good treatment for acne, but I have not used this method myself, so I am not sure if it actually works or not until you can find the best one.

Another common household ingredient to use to fight acne is a homemade oatmeal poultice or scrub. You make this by grinding or blending common oatmeal until it is still coarse but not in big flakes. Mix this oatmeal with a little bit of water to get a thick paste and apply this oatmeal poultice to your face and other areas that have acne. You’ll find that as the oatmeal paste dries it will slowly extract some of the oils in your skin and help to slowly cleanse your skin from acne. But again, this can take several applications over a few days.
