Free Logo Designs – Really a Savings?

Whenever starting a small business it is important to consider every minor detail. There are many businesses that fail simply because maybe spent a little too much time on other details of their business but did not take the time to look at their company’s branding. In considering how they want to be perceived in the minds of the public, it may be wise to weigh the pros and cons of the temptation to use free logo designs. Sure, free logo designs may seem like a good choice on the surface, but is it really?

Most of those who would argue in favor of using free business logo designs would do so because it comes at no cost to the business after all. It is true that small businesses need to keep an eye on their finances at all times, but they must also consider where it is appropriate to make cuts and where it is not. In the case of using free business logo designs it can kind of be a coin flip question.

Based on the fact that companies needing to be thinking about their logo are usually the ones that are just starting out. Fortunately, there is information out there to help them. There is even free logo design software that can help you to get up and running with a brand new logo.

However, the logo is a public relations and branding question. If you think about all of the super successful companies in America and around the world you can think of their logo right away — Fedex, McDonalds, Google. Clearly their logos are ingrained in our culture and in our minds. This means that in some ways the logo is everything. Now do you want to trust a free logo software program quite so much?

There is a concern for the financial health of the startup business on the one hand, but the need for a good logo on the other. In the end the best choice for most small businesses is probably to make a compromise. Finding middle ground by hiring a company to help with the logo but making sure that the company does not charge too much is a wise choice. You don’t have to have a perfect logo right away since you can work to update it later. Many top international companies do this every decade or so. However, you will certainly want to get a solid start, so you should probably have some help even in the beginning.
