Someone asked me the other day what my favorite sport is. I said that it is running, and even though I don’t compete in running events, I still consider myself engaged in a real sport whenever I run. It is the main component of my workout program, and even though I hit the weight room from time to time or play some pick up basketball, running remains my main exercise. Running has become such an integral part of my whole life, in fact, that I cannot imagine myself not doing it. Discovering how fun and beneficial it could be signaled a complete turnaround in my lifestyle. Taking running seriously actually introduced me to a whole new way of life, one that is way healthier than what I have been accustomed to.
Ever since I took to running as seriously as I could, I also made it a point to provide myself with the best running accessories. I only bought and used the best kind of running shoes, and I do not buy one just because it is made by well known manufacturer or if the shoe is popular. I evaluated it through the quality of its performance and how comfortable I feel when I use it, and I also relied on reviews of the running shoes. It is so important, although at times it can be easily overlooked. You need to wear the right one, to minimize the risk of injuries and also be comfortable enough to complete your routine.
I would also like to stress the importance of the proper clothes for running. Yes, there are such things as the right clothes for running. And it is so much simpler than any of us might have actually thought it would be, before we knew any better. When I was just starting out, I thought I would need to buy and use some really fancy running clothes and gear. It turned out that it did not have to be that way. You could wear simple clothes and still be able to run properly, what I did invest in were my shoes. And that decision is turning out to be the right one in the long run. I learned that the key is to wear what you feel are the most comfortable clothes that you can possibly wear while running. Another thing is that runners should be careful not to overdress and wear clothes that would only be liabilities as the running progresses. As the body warms up, the additional clothes would make it feel up to twenty degrees warmer than it actually is. The simpler the better, is what everybody’s philosophy be when it comes to clothes for running.
