Solar Lighting And Electricity

So you’ve bought your patio lights and decided to go with the option of solar lighting. Do you ever wonder how solar panels work? Solar panels consist of a board with a bunch of photovoltaic cells. These cells take the photos from the sun and convert it into a flow of electrons, meaning that you get an electrical current from the sunlight. This will set you up to get a lot of electricity from simply being there to collect it. This works out great for getting all kinds of things lit, but especially lights.

Collecting enough electricity to light things up is easy when you set it up to light up LEDs. Normal lights take up a lot of their electricity in the form of heat, taking the electrons through the filament, and instead of sending it out in the form of infrared rays as opposed to photons. This can be a great thing, such as in the old EZ bake ovens, or it can be something vaguely useful, as in a house in the middle of Alaska in Winter. Or it can be completely pointless and useless, as in heating up the room in the middle of Tennessee in July when all you want is the light. That is why there are so many people clamoring to get things set up for CFLs.

CFL is an acronym that stands for compact florescent lamps, meaning that you get the florescent lamp to function in such a way that you get all the light you want out of it. Even these have issues. A better option is LEDs. LED stands for light emitting diode, and doesn’t require nearly as much electricity as the other two types of light bulbs to set up a good light system. One problem is that they are generally tiny, but this is easily fixed by putting more light bulbs over an area. It works out very well.
