With home furniture, the bigger pieces usually make the most impact. This is especially true with ceiling fans. Hampton Bay is one of the few consumer-grade companies that offer fans as large as 72 inches. Their Papaberre ceiling fan is one such product, sporting an enormous 72 inch diameter on the blades. The Papaberre, as one might expect, is designed for large room cooling, such as those 20 feet or more in length/width. Looking at this fan in person is truly stunning, as you would not expect to see such a grand fan within a person’s home. Retailing for about $179.00, the Papaberre Hampton Bay ceiling fans are a great bargain.
It gets its name from the walnut “berre” wood used in the blades. The walnut is dark in color and matches the metal parts almost exactly. An impressively sized downrod 12 inches in length supports the use of the fan on vaulted (slanted) ceilings. The down-rod pivots to allow the fan to hang straight down even on slanted ceilings. The motor inside of the Papaberre is very quiet and is protected by a lifetime warranty. Tri-speed control allows for different cooling capabilities at the push of a button. It can even turn in reverse. With the 14 degree pitch on the blades, you can expect them to move quite a bit of air at the highest speed.
The ceiling fan comes with a colored cap on the bottom which can be pulled out and replaced with a universal light kit. Most of Hampton Bay’s fans can be augmented by one of their fancy light kits. The kits can hold multiple bulbs which are filtered through decorative glass pieces.
The Papaberre allows you to sit down while still controlling the fan. The remote control is completely wireless and can control the speed and lighting on the fan.
